A Go-Bag should be prepared for each individual family member with an I.D. tag attached. The below items should be placed in a backpack or similar easy to carry container in case you need to evacuate quickly.

  • Battery powered radio
  • Spare batteries
  • Dust mask
  • Whistle
  • Pocket knife
  • Emergency cash in small denominations
  • A change of clothes, sturdy shoes, a hat
  • A local map
  • Food and water
  • Paper, tape, permanent marker
  • Photos of family members and pet for identification purposes
  • List of emergency phone numbers
  • List of allergies to an drug or food
  • Copy of health and insurance cards
  • Extra prescription eye glasses, hearing aid or other vital personal items
  • Prescription medication and first aid supplies
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Spare keys to your home and vehicles
  • Special needs items for children, seniors, and those with disabilities
  • Pet food and supplies
